Not sure which Audi SUV makes the most sense for you? The German automaker offers a wealth of new two-row SUVs, but two of the most popular are the Audi Q3 and the Audi Q5. Both serve as excellent entry points to the Audi brand, offering plenty of technology, style, and luxury amenities, but neither commands the larger MSRPs found in some of Audi’s other SUVs. The Q3 is the smallest of Audi’s SUV lineup, offering a subcompact, crossover frame that helps maximize fuel economy and style. The Q5 is a more traditional compact SUV, offering a larger silhouette, more cargo space, and more rear passenger room. What are the differences between the Q5 and Q3, you might ask? That’s what we’re here to answer! We’re going to break down the most significant differences between each model, from the horsepower to the cargo space. Both Audi SUVs appeal to the same sort of driver, but your preferences may vary. If you’d like to see how both models perform for yourself, visit our Audi dealership in OKC today!

New Audi Q5 vs Audi Q3 Engines

Both Audi SUVs enter a new production cycle that sees them get upgraded powertrains. Both are now equipped with Audi’s trusty turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder. The Q3 gets a version that gets 255 horsepower and 273. The Audi Q5 squeezes a little more juice out of it, though, getting 268 horsepower. Both engines are paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which directs power to Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system. Both models are quick, with the Q3 getting from 0 to 60 in about 5.5 seconds, while the Q5 does the deed in about 5.8. The Q3 should get about 23 mpg city and 30 mpg highway, which is slightly more efficient than the Q5, which gets 22 mpg city and 30 mpg highway. While performance metrics don’t vary too much, the Q3 offers marginally better speed and fuel economy at a lower price.

Audi Q5 vs Q3 Cabin and Cargo Space

If we give the Q3 the nod for performance, the Q5 evens the score with the larger cabin. The Q3 rocks that crossover frame, which makes it a little less spacious, getting about 25 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the rear row and up to 50 cubic feet of total cargo volume. The Q5 is much more spacious, even if the numbers don’t seem much larger. It offers about 28 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear row, for a total of about 58 cubic feet. When comparing the Audi Q5 and Q3 cabins, both receive updates to help improve functionality by maximizing available space. Options and materials vary based on your trim levels and packages, but you’ll find recycled fabrics, rich leathers, and sustainable wood are common in both the new Audi Q5 and Q3. Audi continues to innovate with its technology, and that’s on display in both cabins, where you’ll find plenty of integrated technology, including large displays built into the dashboard. The Q5 gets larger display screens and more advanced standard features, from lumbar seats with driver memory to additional driver-assistance features.
